Hello, my name is Michael. Ever since 3rd grade, people have called me retard, stupid, fat, unathletic, etc. This went on through 4th and 5th grade. Grades 6th, 7th, and 8th are years that I’ll never forget because each year got worse and worse. In 6th grade, a bully (let’s call him James) spit on me, made me lose my new friends, and insulted me in ways you would never imagine. In 7th grade, I had no friends because everyone bullied me. In 8th grade, I almost committed suicide. A bully (let’s call him Johnny) punched and kicked me everyday. When I told on him, everyone said I was lying so no one believed me. After surviving years of hell, I decided that was the last straw. Over the summer I worked out my body and next year, in 9th grade, I joined the wrestling team. I became so much stronger and had more courage to stand up to the bullies. Now I’m 16, a sophomore, the strongest kid in my grade, a varsity wrestling and lacrosse player, have a girlfriend, and no one bullies me. The reason I shared this story is because I wanted to tell everyone that they have to believe in themselves and that they can do more than they think. Also, I wanted to show them that anything is possible and everyone is capable of proving bullies wrong because telling someone about your situation doesn’t work all the time. I wanted to tell everyone that I took a stand and I made a change in my life and though bullying has affected me, it has made me a stronger and more capable man.
