I have never really been able to share my story before. A lot has occurred so sorry if it is long. It began in third grade. I was best friends with the most popular girls in the grade. We were best friends since kindergarten. Anyways, midway through the school year (out of nowhere) my “friends” started calling me names like stupid, ugly, a short dwarf, and many other things. They told me one day that I was worthless and that I no longer belonged in their group and I was no longer allowed to be friends with them. For the rest of third grade I had NO friends whatsoever and I always ate lunch with the teacher. I got through fourth grade fine and than it started up again in fifth grade. All the friends I made in fourth grade left the school and I was back with having no friends. I became “friends” again with the girls from third grade. About five months into fifth grade, one of my so-called friends came up to me and out of nowhere smashed pizza into my face. Might I add that it was my own pizza, so that made it even worse. Being only eleven, I did not do anything about it and I let her smash the pizza in my face again. The girl did not even receive a detention or get suspended! Finally, the year was over and I thought that maybe sixth grade would be better. I was wrong. The girls went right back to making fun of me again. Calling me ugly, stupid, and a horrible person. I even joined cross-country because they called me fat and nonathletic! The mothers of these girls got involved and began blaming my mother for all of my issues. They called her a threat to the school and toxic and a horrible person who has “crazy” hair and an idiot, even though she has a PhD! The principal then decided to meet up with my parents, deciding that my mother should have restricted time on the school campus. The only reason the principal sided with the other women was because they were housewives with wealth and donated a tremendous amount of money and time to the school and my mother was a working parent. A couple days after the meeting, my parents took me out of the school in the middle of the school year. I spent the next three years very happy at my new school and with new, good friends. Unfortunately, some of the girls have followed me to high school, but I do not let that bother me. I have proven to them and myself that I AM worth it, I AM smart, I AM kind, I AM good, and I AM beautiful, inside and out. DO NOT let these bullies define who you are or how you live your life. Things really do get better and trust me when I say this, YOU ARE AMAZING!!!
